TRINITY

Johnny, 56, is the charismatic pastor of a popular megachurch. Hailing from Taiwan, his sermons are extremely popular among the church’s Singaporean followers. He is also known to put on spectacular daredevil acrobatic shows à la Cirque du Soleil performances. Fans and followers come in droves to see him.

During training, Johnny begins to take a special interest in a new recruit, 21-year-old Yang. Soon, Johnny’s favouritism becomes increasingly obvious. This disturbs those around him – in particular, his wife Ruth (49), and his top disciple and future son-in-law David (29), who help run the organisation.

One day, Yang goes missing. Distraught, Johnny decides to investigate the matter by himself. But the trail of evidence soon leads him to those he is closest to. Tragedy ensues.

Both Johnny and Ruth eventually move back to Taiwan. They lead a quiet, unassuming life in the countryside and attend a small church. But soon, Johnny catches sight of a mysterious figure – an unknown presence who may eventually deliver unto both of them God’s grace.

MALICE

The three a deep sea fishing veteran, his son and a mysterious youngster each have different and clashing motivations for embark on what appears to be a dangerous, possibly hopeless, mission. While the father is a proud mariner, the son has no interest in the sea and would prefer to sell the boat. The youngster is reputed to be an excellent harpoon fisherman, but may also carry a curse according to which someone will die on every boat he sails on. Worse, the natural environment throws up challenges, and, with two against one at every turn, the mission carries additional risks.

THE BALLAD OF JONI & SUSI

Susi (20) works at a small-town convenience store owned by Kardi (50). One day, when Kardi tries to rape her, Joni (21) stepped in to save her. At that very moment, the store goes up in flames. Joni and Susi are now on the run and branded as criminals. To survive, they steal from supermarkets-acts they see as a form of defiance against power. In the midst of fear and uncertainties, they cling into a dream; to reach Jakarta and get married there.

THE BEER GIRL IN YANGON

When her father is arrested for political activism, Lily (17) has to work in the beer station serving beer to customers. She immediately gets involved romantically with the karaoke singer named Moon. Lily has an acute endometriosis (painful menstruation) where she suffers but at the same time transporting her into another universe that gives her strength and voice that she never has in real life. In this other universe, she always encounters a mysterious older man that raises her curiosity until this man appears in real life at the beer station as her customer. She starts to build a platonic relationship with him that causes a complication with her relationship with Moon. With the constant pressure falling into prostitution, Lily has to find a way out or to escape the grim faith in front of her by trying to keep her dreams alive to become a singer.

WATCH IT BURN

In a remote Indonesian tropics, the supportive mother Alma (30s) works as a clove farmer. Her son, Akbar (11) harbours a dream to go to a school in the city. However, the farm has been failing as the effect of the mine’s presence. To support Akbar’s dream, Alma strives to sell her farm to the mining company, but the company will only acquire her land if Petta (M, 60s), the stubborn owner of the farmland next to hers, also sell his. When situations gets dire, Alma embarks on a journey to get Petta to agree, a journey laden with pressure, violence, betrayal, and fire.

UNHOLY

At an all-male Islamic boarding school, thirteen-year-olds Fahri and Jejen are inseparable. But Fahri wants more; more of Jejen’s time, attention, presence. His longing becomes obsession: he secretly photographs Jejen while he sleeps, treating him like a work of art. When Deo arrives, Jejen drifts towards him, leaving Fahri consumed by jealousy and fear of being replaced. The trust between them shatters when Jejen discovers the photos. To him, they are not affection but violation. Their friendship, once unbreakable, is now fractured.

Alone, Fahri turns to Zakaria, a kind supervisor who teaches him calligraphy and helps him see himself differently. For the first time, Fahri begins to understand his desires. But what starts as a mentorship slowly shifts. Zakaria’s warmth carries a subtle, dangerous edge, blurring boundaries and pulling Fahri into a world in which he’s too innocent to navigate.
